    Do Republicans intentionally create a self-fulfilling prophecy by claiming...

    ...that government doesn't work? And then proving that very point every time they get into power?

    I think so. They run saying government doesn't work. Once they're in power, they pass tax cuts and increase military spending that is not paid for, leading to large deficits. Also, they think it's totally fine that corporations can buy influence.

    I think it’s simpler. They themselves don’t like to work. John Boehner is running a part-time House of Representatives compared to Pelosi.

    They constantly parrot ‘government doesn’t create jobs,’ so they don’t have to worry about actually DOING anything other than continue to feed the rich.

    They’re just lazy.

    Yes they do. Remember Bush appointing an Arabian horse man to head FEMA? Remember Bush trying to appoint a veterinarian to oversee women's health? Two cases in point.
