Daughter started period for first time, What can I expect to happen in...

...the near future? My daughter will be 11 in march and she just started her period for the first time 2 days before Christmas. I don't remember how I started out for it's been 20 years ago, and have different people tell me different things. Will she have a monthly cycle or will she be staggered here and there? What else can I expect? Thanks to all who answer.

I remember my first period, I got it once and then it went away for a year.

I wished my mother would have taught me how to use tampons earlier though, so thats something I'll tell ya.

It was also staggered when I first got them and the dates would change often, my cycle usually ran like a month and a half and I'd get it, and then 3 weeks and I'd get it, or I'd spot for one time and get it the next month.

Be a super nice mom and treat her with candy and cakes when she gets it again and keep her out of school. I wanted my mom to do that to, I remember thinking my life was going to end. (Not literally) just that I would never have fun again.

I thought everyone knew that first time that I had it, it was horrible.
Sorry if this is TMI, but I thought it might help plead her case a little too. lol

    XO
    Good luck!!!

For the first year or two it is possible as her body regulates that she may miss a period or two, or have super short or super long ones

The best thing you can do is help her track it so you know how long her cycle should be so you can take her to a doctor if anything "weird" happens

Now that she has had her first period, you should take her to a doctor soon to get a physical - to check her growth and so the doctor can answer any questions you might not be able to

And just reassure her and make sure she wears panty liners around the time of her period to prevent leaks at school

    Good luck!!
