it is a little bit of both really. I am not sure about vague but scientifically impossible or i improbable, for sure! misinterpreted to suit the ideals and desires of the ruling class definitely. An example I can give is the story of soddam an Gomorrah: Experts in languages have re translated original texts and discovered that the cities we not destroyed because of fornication and homosexuality but were punished for being inhospitable to a stranger and instead of feeding, sheltering, and clothing him the towns people anally raped (a common display of dominance and humiliation in many ancient cultures) the stranger because they thought he was going to steal their wealth. I also know that the most quoted Leviticus passage the word translated to abomination really meant "outside of the norm" So the original text was not condemning Homosexuality but saying it was outside of the norm. As Leviticus was written as a basic laws of survival list at a time when the Jews thought they were going to be wiped from the earth most of the laws or passages in it are geared to procreation. What really bothers me about the Bible is that Most religions have their own interpretation of what everything means and most pick and choose which rules to follow as is dictated by their own selfish needs.

They plagiarized the 'OT', so, yeah they were deceiving.
Paul was certainly a hateful bigot, like Jesus before him.

My question, what 'biblical prophecies' are you referring to?

I don't think you have to be hateful deceiving bigots to interpret things as "signs" or as prophecies coming true. Heck, people still do it today and they're not bad people! Just ignorant

Thank you for an invitation to vent. I, however, won't be able to make it.

When they're specific, like the permanent destruction of Tyre or the return of Jesus during the lifetime of his apostles, they seem to fail, so it's probably best that most of them are completely vague and applicable to events in any period throughout history.

Atheists, is it that the Biblical prophecies are vague, or that the NT writers...

...were hateful deceiving bigots? Go ahead, vent your thoughts on this weight matter.........
Oh, and please tell me which ones are vague...
"where dying to know, are you really gay?"

    Learn some spelling...
"No, it's basically that there's no reason to suppose that god exists."

Are you mentally handicap or something? Biblical prophecies can support a god!!!

Sure, it can be both, but PLEASE tell me which ones you think are vague.....man....how can you be an atheist when you haven't done your research??
"Could you please answer the question? Its an honest question...you've given off a few indictations"

Learn some spelling....and grammar (you forgot the period).

p.s. star if you think I'm good looking.
