Aren't prophecies really just the Christian version of palm...

...readings,psychic predictions, etc? Made "accurate" by being ambiguous in nature, and as such, subject to confirmatory bias?

So what about the "prophesy" I was given as a young, healthy newly -wed by a modern prophet..."You will have children!"...its not a bad guess from anyone, prophet or otherwise. Or a Pastor I knew who was given many prophesies from a range of "prophets" that he would be healed of his cancer...He is now dead....so they are saying "oh, but he IS healed in Heaven!"...I know of countless others like this.

Bible Prophecies were recorded over 2000 years ago and many have already been fulfilled.

Daniel's prophecies weren't ambiguous in nature. Neither are John's. The bible is full of prophecy which is very straightforward, not written in riddles like those of Nostradamus. David and Daniel both predicted the rise of the next four world empires with complete accuracy, and Daniel's (technically Nebuchadnezzar's) prophecy about the final empire is only now coming true.

The difference between prophecy and fortune telling is the source. Prophets don't go looking for prophecies. They come from God when God is ready to give them. The bible also puts forth two tests for a prophet. If his prediction rate isn't 100% accurate or if he ever advocates the worship of strange gods, he's not a prophet.

Psychic literally means "of spirits". Psychic readings, palmistry, tarot, ouija, etc. all are powered by the same thing: spirits. There are two kinds of spirits: angels and demons. Angels don't participate in these things. Demons, however, have no problem using these things to manipulate people to their own ends. This starts out seeming very beneficial at first, but invariably leads to ruin and in many cases, even possession. So believe me, there's a reason God tells us to stay away from psychic stuff.

Prophesies are communications from GOD, sometimes via good spirits like angels.

Palm readings & psychic predictions are false copies from evil spirits like demons.

In essence, yes. But it's not a Christian version, there were prophets long before Christians and before Christ. Prophecy doesn't belong to a religion, exactly. The primary difference between prophets and psychics is who's giving the information: satan or some demonic spirit that's out to deceive you, or Yahweh who never will. Anything that comes from the dark side may or may not come to fruition, and even if it does, the ultimate goal is to take the person further away from God. Any information that is given from God will always be as He says it'll be.
