Thread: I'm very tall. What sport bike should I start out with?

I am tall and skinny 6'5" 180lbs and want to learn to ride a motorcycle. I plan on taking Harley Davidson's safety course. I've been told that a good starter bike would be a 250cc but I think that would be too small for me ergonomically. I'm mature and know not to go stupid fast right away, but since I have zero riding experience I am wondering if it would be unsafe to buy a 500 or 600 as my first bike, instead of a 250? I am told their frames are a bit larger..

I would say you should get an sv650. Sounds big for a beginner but actually has less hp (about 81 hp) compared to 130hp on a cbr600. Sv650s are great for begginers because they handle nice, and are right in the middle between small but comfortable bikes and big fast uncomfortable bikes. A used Ninja 500 would be ok as well. The ninja 650R is not a terrible choice, but will cost more.
