snowmobile I purchased. ? I walked into the shop, pointed at a machine and told them I wanted it. They drafted the paperwork, and I came back the next day with the 50% down payment (bank check that was cashed by them) and the rest was financed (which was approved). Off I go…

3 weeks later, they call and tell me that my 'account' has a balance on it of $500.00 for aftermarket parts that were previously installed on the machine. I tell them that I am not paying the 500 and if they want the machine back, I will gladly comply. This is not acceptable to them and they are still trying to come after me for the balance. These parts were on the machine when I saw it on the floor and at no time did I request that they order or install any extra parts. Any suggestions?

Do you have a bill of receipt? What was the final sale price, the bottom line if you will? Did you sign the receipt agreeing to that dollar amount? If so, go back to the shop and point this out, if they won't back down contact the Better Business Bureau, your city attorney, county attorney or AG Office and file a complaint. Many states offer ADR.
That is about all I can think of.
If it were me, I'd go in and confront them face to face. It was their oversight and now they are trying to recoup their loss. Some idiot salesman wrote up the bill without tacking on the extra $$$, now they are trying to make you pay for their mistake.
