His Divine Shadow

I am not a supporter of incest, nor would I wish to engage in such a practice. I am, however, very curious as to why specific cultures have specific taboos from a philosophical and sociological point of view and this one I find to be one of the more interesting ones.

Please think this through before answering and avoid the following types of answers:

1). Excuses: Please don't pass the buck to other people by saying "because the bible/my family/society says it's ok/wrong." I am not interested in what other people/books have to say about the matter. I am interested in what you THINK, not what you know. There is a difference.

2). Emotional arguments: Don't say you are against it because "it's gross." If we outlawed everything that was gross, I would have made sure that cheesecake was outlawed a long time ago. Try to present why you think voting yes/no would benefit and/or harm society.
