Most frequently, by conducting trials. Remember that the executive branch includes cops and prosecutors. Thus a cop of FBI agent will gather evidence. The prosecutor will seek to introduce it and the judge will rule. There are others, of course, such as judicial review and resolving suits brought against the executive, but the most frequent is just be conducting trials.

the judicial branch can declare acts of the executive or legislative branch "unconstitutional" (making them non valid). its the judicial branches job to make sure our rights established in the constitution and the amendments aren't infringed upon by the other branches of government.
