Thread: What should I do if I think my puppy is from a puppymill?

I bought a puppy from a breeder not too long ago and I think that she may have been running a puppymill. For starters, she breeds many different breeds of dogs. She also has her dogs APRI registered, which I have recently read a lot about and lastly, when I first got my puppy he was constantly scratching which made me think he had flees, when I confronted her about it, she told me it was unlikely because he had never been on the ground before. What?! Why wouldn't he have been on the ground? Anyways, I was wondering if this is something worth pursuing. I love my puppy very much and have no intentions of breeding him or anything so the registration doesn't bother me I just feel like I should do something. Is there somewhere you can report a suspected puppymill? Should I just let it go? Thanks.

Unless the dogs are kept in inhumane conditions, there is unfortunately no law against running a puppymill.
