Today i got a 60 watt bulb and light from walmart for a basking lamp. I am using it to heat the whole tank because i have only a 10 gallon for my baby RES. Well I have had this RES for a while and i havent seen it basking yet. I am using a brick for a basking platform. Is it maybye because the light is shining short of in front of the brick and not right on it? I am afraid to put it right on top though because the brick might get really hot. Right now it is about 82 degrees in my tank. Sometimes i see it in the water in any random spot with its legs strecthed out... is this its own way of basking? Also where would those cool little timer things that turn lights on and off be at walmart and how much are they?

Ok but if i shine this huge 60 watt bulb on top wont the brick get too hot on hurt him if he does climb onto it? The bulb is really close to the tank. Like part of the bulb is in it. So I think that would hurt him wouldnt it?
