Why does my dog have a bald spot on her lower back?

I have a poodle/ fox terrior mix. She is seven years old, and for the last two months she has been biting off her fur in the same spot. She has no irritation there and it is not red. It looks perfectly fine other then the fact that there is no hair there. She starts to bite the hair off and when the hair is gone she stops and lets it heal. After that she starts to bite it off again. Please help us find an answer. Thank You!
