Is Scotts Nature Scapes mulch harmful to pets?

We heard of a mulch that is called cocoa mulch or something that is supposed to smell good but has caused seizures and almost instant death when consumed by dogs. We recently put out Scotts Nature Scapes mulch in our yard and the following day one of our dogs was found after having a seizure with mulch around his mouth. I was trying to find out if anyone knows of any reports that Scotts Nature Scapes mulch does this to dogs when ingested. Thanks
