Ok, my puffer fish has a couple of little red spots on his belly. His eating is normal. However, today I noticed another red spot appear a little farther away from the other one. What is going on? I checked my ammonia and it was high and purchased some ammonia/nitrite/nitrate remover. However, it's still saying my ammonia levels are high. I have 3 neon tetras, a bala shark, a pleco and a puffer fish in a 5 gallon (I know this is too much fish, but that this is a temporary tank to house them in until I am able to get into the 55 gallon). I changed my water a few times. My puffer fish kept swimming at the top like he was gasping for air which let me know that my ammonia was high. Now he's got these spots. What do I do? How do I help him?
