I have 3 guinea pigs.Spaghetti the older, Ravioli is in the middle and Connor is the youngest. Both Spaghetti and Connor are bigger than Ravioli, he is just small I guess, they all eat each others hair every once in awhile, but poor Ravioli has like no hair on his back any more, and it's gradually getting worse and worse. He has cuts and scabs all over his back, and I'M POSITIVE, that they don't fight. It's from barbering and him scratching himself over and over.A major problem I think is that Ravioli, has very bad dandruff, and was always very itchy, perhaps the dandruff's smell attracts the other piggies to eat at his hair more?
Now I can't even use the dandruff shampoo on him because it will sting if it gets into these cuts, and there's no way of avoiding all of them.He always seems very itchy and uncomfortable, and every now and then he will make a loud noise as if he is in pain, then I go to check the cage and sure enough they are eating his hair.
We tried separating him in separate cage from them , so his scabs would heal and then I could use the shampoo on him, but all he did when he was in there was cry, and he would barely eat, he was depressed to be away from the other 2.I eventually put him back in with them.
What can I do to stop them from eating his hair, so I can get rid of his itchy dry skin and so his beautiful hair grows out again? He never seems happy, he's in so much pain.
