Thread: My puppy licks herself too much.?

My 5 month old mini pin keeps licking herself. I know dogs are supposed to do that, but I think she is doing it too much (I don't know, it's the first time I have a dog). She even wakes up in the middle of the night to do it, and does it while on my lap.

Is this normal or excessive?

(She's going to be spayed soon)

If this has only just started, and she's licking her rear end, perhaps she's already coming into season. On the other hand, if she's licking her anus area, she could have anal gland problems. You can't really stop it, other than finding out why she's feeling the need to be doing this.
