My dog only poops every other day ??! Is this o. k. ?

She is a 2 yr. old rescue dog and I have had her for almost a year now and she hates to use the bathroom in our yard ?? I have seen her hold her poop for 2 whole days and she holds her pee , too but seems to not mind peeing in the yard. I know that this can't be good but at the park it seems like no problem. But I can only take her there 3 times a week. How can I get her to be comfortable with using the bathroom in our own yard ? If I got another dog would that help ? I'm thinking that she has been through something traumatic before I adopted her. Or is it common for dogs to hold their poop and pee ??

This bothers me too. Sometimes my dog also holds it for 2 days. He is a rescue too. I figure he goes in the end so I try not to worry too much about it. He recently had an operation and went almost 3 days - then I was freaking out a little. If you are worried ask the vet next time you go. Does she ever go in the yard or does she out and out refuse to go there???
