Thread: Masking The Scent of a Dog in Heat?

We have tried vaselene, doggy diapers and garlic stuff but we really can't seem to figure out how to keep the male dogs away from her. If anyone had any idea please, please help.

It really depends on where and how you live your best bet is to lock her up and if your not going to breed (which should be left to professionals) than desex her!

Masking the scent is about as effective as pretending you can't smell the skunk that just let loose in your back yard.

Lock her up in a room or crate. Never let her outside off leash, or unattended, unless yard is fenced like a fortress.

There is no way to mask the smell. Males can smell that a mile away. LOL My little grl got prego. My one male that was not fixed at the time pulled her diaper down and got her. I felt bad for her, but it was the funniest thing I ever saw. I would keep diapers on her at all times. You will have to watch her, so you don’t go thru what I did. I didn’t by the doggie diapers b/c they are so expensive. I just bought kid diapers and cut a hole for her tail. It worked great. My little grl is a rat terrier and she used a size 4. So if you have a large breed dog you might have to get some depends. Still cheaper than the doggie diapers.
