I have a 9 month old Chihuahua. Is it regular to have her teeth pulled if...

...they have not fallen out yet? I am taking her to the Vet for spaying and removal of rear dewclaws. The Vet says that her teeth should have fallen out by now and wants to pull them at the same time as the spaying. I don't see anything wrong with her teeth, they could be adult teeth for all I know. How would the dog eat without teeth?

Yes,get the teeth out if they are not falling out by themselves. It will give your pet terrible breath odor and if they are not taken out there will be problems later on.Spend less money now Than later and harm the pet.

So the poor dog is going to be spayed, rear dew claws removed and then you're going to assault her mouth as well at the same time! Youre vet is putting your finances above that of the dog's health and well-being!!!! She will have enough to contend with from the spaying and dew claw removal which can be very painful. Please do NOT do the teeth as well, not if you want your dog to make a good recovery and not hate your guts!

If you are not convinced that the teeth are actually puppy teeth then do NOT let the vet remove them and get a second opinion before going any further. If they are adult teeth and he pull them out, that's it, she won't get any others. If they are puppy teeth then you can do decide at a later stage what to do about it after you have been able to check out what's best, rather than rush into it now.
