I have an almost 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback who isn't spayed and an approximately 2 year old female Treeing Walker Hound who is spayed. We got the Walker from the pound about a year ago, and have had the Ridgeback since she was a puppy. They seem to have the 2 year old syndrome, "what's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine". They could have the exact same bones/toys whatever it may be, but they always wants what the other has. I've tried "claiming ownership" over the objects, I've kept them separated. But it seems that the ridgeback somewhat instigates it by a look, or inching forward to get closer to the walker's bed. Well the treeing-walker will growl, show teeth and then it causes a big fight. My ridgeback has come out with the scars, and gouges and has had to have a total of 11 staples to date. I'm to the point of giving away the treeing walker. She has started to snap for no reason without the ridgeback in the room. What should I do? I have an 8mo. old daughter to consider
