Thread: Does it sound like this beagle was trained to hunt? or typical beagle behavior?

I do NOT hunt.

but anyway I have a beagle from the shelter. The dog can sniff out a rabbit anywhere track it and goes nuts barking. (Of course I don't let him get any of them.) The dog then bays and bays. It seem to circle the rabbit and try to trap it or something. Are beagles natually this NUTS about rabbits? Or does it seem the dog was a previous hunting dog? (YES, I know that is what they're for.)lol but I have to go outside and chase the rabbits off before letting the dog out!
