our cat had a cast on for about 4 weeks and somehow inside the cast her paw became infected - guess it slipped by the vet - anyway, once the infection was discovered it was pretty bad, - infected, exposed flesh, but in the past 10 days it has improved considerably. she was put on a program to save her paw - including a daily cleaning/bandage change/topical ointment application and 10 days of antibiotic shots...

right now it's our turn to take care of her and to change the bandages at home.. even now the wound is about 1/2 her paw and although it looks much better, it's basically exposed flesh. the vet told us to wash it with water, put iodine on it, and then apply the antibiotic cream and then the gauze/bandage... but it seems at this point like IODINE is a bit too much? anyone out there had to clean a big wound like this daily? should be use the iodine or just wash the wound, apply the ointment and then the gauze/bandage? THANK YOU!!!!
