Thread: Unlocked smartphone no data plan? please help!?

hi i am thinking about getting a unlocked smartphone. but he thing is i dont want to pay for the ridiculous data plan. but since the phone is unlocked cant i just use text and calling and not use data? becuz i dont want to get charged exta monthly or anything. i talked to a tmobile representative online and he said i could use it for just text and call and that i wouldnt get charged anything extra. please post ur opinion or if u work with phones please answer with an explanation on ur thoughts.

What good is a smartphone without data plan?

The whole point of having a smartphone is have data everywhere you go. Watch video, get GPS nav, use enhanced reality apps, and so on. Having a smartphone without data plan is basically buying a superexotic car and only use the first gear, because "it use too much gas".
