Thread: Switching smartphone from a different network?

I wanna switch over my current smart phone, an LG android, to the blackberry torch. I'm gonna buy the blackberry from my friend who's selling it since he just got an iphone, so i know it's in good condition and everything.

I already have a current plan for my number under verizon wireless and his under AT&T. Would I still be able to switch over the number manually doing it over the phone even though his phone is from AT&T and not under verizon?
