Smartphone - don't want to go there, anyone in the same boat? How do you

deal with it? I'm in my mid-30s and am a business owner. I'm super busy professionally, but sometimes just want to be completely off the grid and I'm happy to have a cell phone that rings and takes messages. However, everyone expects someone in my position to be a smartphone user and have instant access to texts and emails and so they treat you like you do.
FYI - I know I can turn it off, if I don't want to look at it. But sometimes it's really nice physically NOT being able to get something instanteously.

Has anyone been successful "staying in the dark ages". If so, what's your trick?
