It's irritating, mostly, but it depends on where you are in public. If you're any place where small children could potentially walk by with their grandmas and grandpas, you shouldn't be making out and groping around because it's rude and distracting. If you're at a club or a concert, no one cares.
Also, it depends on what you consider PDA. Hand holding can be considered PDA, but that's a lot different than playing tonsil hockey in front of everyone. Use your discretion to decide what's appropriate.

i never thought it was a big deal. i walk around all the time holding hands with my boy, and we give each other a lot of hugs. we kiss a bit too, but is a quick kiss, not a full on make-out session - those are saved for more private times. i don't understand why PDA's are such a big thing, all it is, is expressing your love for someone. however, i do agree with keeping tasteful.
