Basically I am looking for a high quality camera solution for under £600, and I was wondering whether a good, new hd camera like the sony sr11 would be as good as an oldie like the canon xl1. Thanks in advance.

Are new HD handheld camcorders as good as big sd dv tape ones, such as the xl1?
