Interior Lights, Radio and Handheld key lock stopped working. What could cause this?

** the battery is now in correctly.
I have a 99 Ford Escort ZX2. The person who replaced my battery put it in backwards and connected it. A couple fuses were blown but they were replaced. The battery is not in correctly and I had to have the alternator replaced. Now the Interior lights, radio, and key lock wont work. The car used to make a noise when I left the lights on and shut the engine off, now it doesnt make any sound.
I have checked the individual fuses of these and they arent blown. What could cause all this to stop working? What should I start checking?

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks
