Thread: can you use a smartphone with out a data plan?

If I buy a blackberry torch used from say ebay or something would It work with out a data plan? like just unlimited talk and text but no data

If you're with AT&T, I doubt it. You will have to activate the phone through them and I doubt they'll let you get by without the minimum required data plan.

I don't see why you would waste money on a smartphone without using its features, though. You may as well just get a cheaper phone and be done with it if all you want to do is text and call.
