ok, so one of my friends claims that the government can constantly know where you are just by knowing your cell phone number because of the smart phones GPS . He also claims the only way to prevent this is to take out your battery because even if you power down your phone the GPS is still on. I told him that its BS but he swears by it . Is there any truth to this ?

Government spooks can find you using your cell phone whether it has GPS or not, whether it's on or off.

Yeah, it is the truth. They can find anyone anywhere without a GPS, anyway.
