Right.
I currently use a Nokia N800 with an application called Maemo Mapper and map tiles from openstreetmaps.org to navigate my way around when travelling; and it's great!
However, there are three flaws in my setup:

1 - Durability. It's neither indestructible nor waterproof (or even slightly water resistant).

2 - Battery. I have a good 7 hours (great for a day out) but if I'm camping and without power for a few days, it's not a device I can rely on.

3 - Readability. The screen on the N800 is impossible to read in sunlight.

I'm looking for something very similar to the device I have currently, which addresses the three problems listed above. I'm rather keen on a device that can download custom map tiles (from openstreetmaps.org, Virtual Earth etc), which is why I'm having so much difficulty in my search for an appropriate replacement.

Is there anything like what I'm looking for available for purchase?
