    Teacher bumping grades

I have a 79.42 in statistics and emailed the teacher explaining how i went to every class, tried hard, participated in class and that I really need the grade bumped to an 80. And asked if there was anything I could do.

    His reply:
"First of all, trying hard and attending class count for nothing. Second, I sure hope you're not suggesting that I change your grade based on circumstances that have nothing to do with the course, for example, you're desire to go to Smeal. That would be implying I lack academic integrity and I would take that as a personal insult. Third, a 79.42 is a C+, but as instructor I have the right to raise the final grade for significant positive in-class contributions. You'll have to wait until the grades are turned into the Registrar (probably tomorrow) if that has happened in your case."

So he pretty much verbally trashed me and I doubt I will get bumped up. What do you guys think?

Just accept what you have and hope you get an 80. There's almost zero difference between a 79.4 and an 80. Well, .6 difference but it doesn't matter at all.

I'm sure your teacher will have an idea on how to "bump" your grade.

I hate when teachers are assholes like that. I'd probably email him back and tell him to take that .58 and shove it up his ass.
