    If I have a 10 year old PC with Windows 98, will connecting to high speed...

    ...internet still be worth it or, will my old PC just slow things down anyway ?

    Sure it would be worth it if you do a lot of browsing the web.

    Something else you could try is a different Operating System that is made to run on older computers and make them fast again.

    Xubuntu is one of those, made for older systems and supports high speed internet and other stuff, may want to take a look at it.
