I personally find American Idol to be more entertaining and interesting. You also have to consider that the basis of the program is totally different. While 'So You Think You Can Dance' is a dace-off you don't find most people claiming that they can dance and entering competitions. On the other hand, a good majority of the population sings, or thinks they can. Wether it's in the shower, in the car, while vacuuming or on a stage there are more people willing to put themselves out there for a song than a dance. It's because of that relatable factor that 'American Idol' is far more popular.
