    what the hell is a beadle?

    ive been watching sweeney todd [again] and i always forget but its just reminded me... what the hell is a beadle? its the guy that follows judge turpin around in the movie, and i have no idea what was in, what do they do?

    Beadle, sometimes spelled "bedel" is derived from the Latin "bidellus" or "bedellus," rooted in words for "herald."

    The term moved into Old English as a title given to a Saxon officer who summoned householders to council
