Hello,This is a huge question. Most people who had a television
in 1950 watched some of the best drama performances in its history with Playhouse 90, Fireside theater, Philco TV Playhouse, G.E.Theater, Armstrong Circle theater. Some were live and most were in black and white. The comedy shows were outstanding with Your show of Shows with Sid Caesar and Texaco Star Theater with Milton Berle, and Ed Sullivan show. Playing against the best were the cowboy action shows like Gunsmoke,Wagon Train,Maverick,Have Gun will Travel.Remember there were cigarette ads everywhere and shows even produced by the cigarette advertisers such as
Lucky Strike Hit Parade and the Jack Benny Comedy Show.
Specific Advertisers produced the entire show-such as Kraft
Television theater and Hallmark Hall of Fame show.In fact on Sundays, one had to chose between the Hallmark show and the Ed Sullivan show and on Tuesday, one either watched Milton Berle or Bishop Sheen of N.Y.I have enclosed the weekly schedule of all the television shows from 1947 to 2007. You asked a gigantic question and it deserves a gigantic answer. Believe me, television was fun in those days and very exciting.

There were a few popular kids shows like "Howdy Doody" and "The Lone Ranger". Leave it to Beaver, Ed Sullivan, Westerns were big, Milton Berle, Loretta Young, lots of variety shows, etc and a few game shows too like "Truth or Consequences", "What's My Line", etc.
I wasn't born either, but my parents talked a lot about Lucy, etc. I love old commercials--check out some old ones on youtube, they're hysterical!
