Kath and Kim (Aus) - Who are True and Prue Supposed to Be?

On the original Kath and Kim, the very different accents and mannerisms of True and Prue, the Home store workers, are clearly supposed to be based on a certain stereotype...but not being Australian I have no idea who they're making fun of!

    Can anyone enlighten me??

There is a franchise store here. based in the more upwardly mobile areas, in large shopping centres. Its called House and Garden.

They sell ludicrously expensive small furniture and knick knacks. usually run by the wife of some big lawyer or businessman asa hobby/tax dodge. They really ARE just like those two women. terribly snobbish. Not very bright. And experts at the game of keeping up with the Joneses type lifestyles. Very funny show. There really are whole suburbs filled with people just like Kath and Kim...and Sharon, God forbid!! And the entire country is rife with ill trained Rottweilers called Cujo. Really.

Australia is a nation of high income nutters!!

    LOL!!
