Thread: Help finding name of 80's kid's movie?

My brother and I were talking about things we used to watch as kids. He mentioned this and I vaguely remember it but we have no clue what it's called.

There was a boy and he had a purple or blue stuffed monster, although it's possible the monster may have been from a book . There were times when the monster came to life. I can remember a scene where the live monster is running down a suburban neighborhood street. It wasn't a cartoon and everyone but the monster was live action. It seem to me peanut butter and jelly may be involved in the plot somehow. That's all we can remember. Any ideas?

omg i can recall that too but i cant think of it the first thing that came to mind was Mac and Me or maybe the Purple People Eaters
