On the DVD there are two endings.

One (the one you see) he loses the fight) hince no sequel

the other he wins and probably would have pushed for a sequel

ok then there's the ending that even Stalone had said in interviews he was considering making official (was not shot).

Balboa goes into the fight knowing he has next to no chance of winning but is willing to give it his all.

However by the time its over damage from the past plus what he takes in the fight tears him apart.

He is knocked out, and is taken to the hospital in a comma.

He awakens but ends up dying in his managers arms.

All three were great ways to end it once and for all, and i am glad he didnt win because stalone never entended another sequel after this.

but what would you have liked to see?

Keep in mind one thing most people dont know.

the guy who plays the champ fighter is a real boxer. they only asked him not to fight at 100% because there would be no fight at all.

Stalone traied for 6 months of
professional boxing training for this film.

Every hit, cut, everythin was REAL.

there were no special effects or sounds used.
