I have the old Americas Choice II plan for verizon, can i just add on the unlimited smartphone data plan to my regular ACII plan? or do i have to switch plans
note: i am eligible for an upgrade. i just dont want to change my regular plan (ACII, one of the old plans) so can i just add the data plan without having to switch my regular voice plan?

If you want the droid at the discounted price, you have to be eligible for an upgrade and sign a new contract which includes the data plan.

If you pay full price for the droid, you can keep your plan and add the data plan.

I have the (cheaper) America's Choice plan.

Went to Verizon store to upgrade both phones to the Motorola Droid. Was told that in order to get the Droid, I had to switch to Nationwide, which costs more for less.

Walked out and went to Best Buy (same mall), who happily upgraded me and gave me Droids and everything works with America's Choice. Best Buy even gave me the New every 2 discount.

Called Verizon and asked them about it, and the rep said that to get the phones at Verizon, they must change the plan to Nationwide.

Thank goodness for Best Buy!!!!
