I want to use a (living) artist painting for a cell phone shell/skin design....
...Should I ask first? I want to add a photo of a painting to a cellphone skin I am going to order in a few days. It is a living artist. I was wondering if I wanted to put the painting there, should I contact her and ask her permission?
Or should I just not bother asking?
Also when I add it to my phone, should a text be put with either the author's alias or the collection name?
