External antenna for mobile gps unit?!

I have the t-mobile dash(HTC excalibur ) and i recently loaded the garmin city nav on the phone with pharos gps navigator as the receiver(bluetooth).
I have used it today and noticed the signal at times is very poor(I'm in the city) and sometme inaccurate. and was wanting to know if there is a make-shift way to cheaply boost the gps signal, OR if there is an external antenna that you can use with a bluetooth receiver?
