Its a custom clothing business, based out of edmonton, alberta, we also have an on-line storefront at www.darkknit.com. We mostly to the alternative clothing crowd, or just those looking for something unique, That said we wont turn down much. I have been having a hell of a time making any sales though, things are getting expensive and its getting really tough to stay afloat. I'm not sure if its because no one knows we are available or what? Any suggestions on how I can boost my traffic to the site, sales, or any other small business tips would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you can identify your customer you can target them

You say "alternate clothing crowd"...figure out where those kinds of folks congregate...certain websites or blogs...you could advertise on them or even just hang around chatrooms and get your word out. Craigslist is good place for this kind of thing and its free

In the physical world look at giving away products at venues your customers frequent....like coupons for x% off or x$ off, give them out like candy at the right concerts and coffee shops.

Lastly you could give your clothes to people in that demographic, whether they are semi-famous like music people or media people and get them to mention it sometime or get a buzz going when you see your stuff on someone famous

Its all about knowning who your customer is and what their habits are
