Looking for some advice, I am a salesmen looking for a new career, I have a hugh interest in CAD/, the AEC world and do not see that many people talking about it in the real world, its all sales, marketing and the bottom line of the company.

Is a career/job in , say a mid-sized to large A/E firm, a stable job, I realize their a still a bottom line, but its not sales, its mostly technical (I think) which I am geared towards better anyways.
If so, how can someone break into A/E field from a sales background. I have pretty good computer skills, along with some knowledge of drafting/CAD/software.

Would it be wise to say that you can make 40k as a drafter/technincan and if you continue school (Architect or Engineer) you can make 80k.

I see it all the time with all this recession talk, (escape, go into healthcare, education, or ENGINEERING, but I dont exactly know what that entails.

Looking for any professional advice/thoughts....
Thanks
