Just keep trying shelters in the area. 6 weeks is way to young, at least 10 weeks is the youngest you should take home!!! It is not really kitten season right now, so you will need to be patient and go often to get one as they go fast. Look for adds with your vet or online in your area for any kittens needing homes. Kittens do not make good gifts and your mom needs to choose the cat she wants to have with you. Be careful about taking a cat free to a good home as it may need lots of vet care if it is sickly or has parasites, better off finding a shelter cat that has had it's shots and been health checked by a vet there. That way they will be able to help you if you think your new kitten is sick after taking it home.

Go to petfinder and under shelters search STAAR: second time around animal rescue. It has a ton of cats and kittens for a really low adoption price, but I believe its like in Shaumburg. Also check Heartland Animal Shelter, heartlandanimalshelter.net K?

look in the classifieds in the newspapers i always see free kittens from 6-10 weeks old and if not no more then $25. i dont know if u guys have the nwherald but if u do u will definitley with no doubht see them there. as a matter of fact i might have seen the, today in the adds
