Everyone is emotionally vulnerable. This varies only in degree, not as a true or false choice. Everyone should be treated with civility and respect, even though their ideas might deserve criticism. Criticizing ideas is not criticizing people, even though the memes that many carry do their best to confuse the two.

Define "emotionally vulnerable", please, and how you can deduce this state in a stranger from a question they post on the internet, especially on an open forum where all can view it? Or indeed how you will prevent those "emotionally vulnerable" people from viewing your questions/answers, unless you decline to discuss them in public on the net at all.

I think its fine to discuss your beliefs with anybody, why shouldn't you discuss your beliefs with someone ? its like not speaking to someone because you think they are depressed.

Not necessarily, but it might make a difference to the way we discuss them.

While many of us have thick skins and can cope with the snarling wolf den that is R&S, some people can't and need to be treated a bit more gently. We just have to judge each case accordingly.

That's Christianity's favorite tactic. That's why they devote the overwhelming majority of their resources to indoctrinating children, the elderly, the impoverished/uneducated, the incarcerated and the drug-addicted.
Christianity aggressively goes after those who are less able to emotionally defend themselves against brainwashing tactics.

If they ask, well then they asked for it, otherwise no, keep them to yourself.

But I don't know if you're talking about Y! Answers because how can you really tell if someone is emotionally vulnerable o rnot?

Well, for one thing, we're all emotionally vulnerable. I think you're free to discuss your beliefs or non-beliefs with anyone you want to. Ultimately we all make our own choices given the information we've been presented. It would be a shame to make a choice without considering all the possibilities.

Isn't that how religion was always done in the past? Believe in something without any discussion?
