Some insight.
I have the iPhone 3G right now. It was an awesome phone for the first year i had it. The apps are great and everything, and the added iPod is also nice. Plus the new MMS feature is adding something that it should have had in the first place. But after a while, i stopped using most of the apps i bought and barely used my phone. I carry it with me everywhere because there ARE some things on there i use a whole lot, i.e. Facebook, YouTube and texting. But those are available to most phones. The iPhone can get very faulty very easily. I am thankful that my phone still works after dropping it in water twice. If your computer is a Windows XP, you MIGHT be okay with the whole synching thing. in many cases, windows will not fully support itunes and the iphone, so you can run into issues there. Right now, i can't sync ANY music, videos, sound clips, or anything else to my phone because the computer wont work with my phone. Its ridiculous. Plus i have started getting very aggravated with the touchscreen keyboard. It freezes so often that it skips entire words i have typed. I really am disliking the iphone. I am switching to the LG Xenon later this month, because it offers many things i already use, and cuts the crap that i don't need to deal with. Plus, getting the LG Xenon replaced is MUCH cheaper than iphone. And as you already mentioned, AT&T will cover it with their warranty. You have to buy Apple's warranty after your first year for about 70 dollars. Overall, the iPhone is better for right now, but the LG Xenon is better in the long run.
