Why do you prefer to carry 2 devices and 1 will suffice?

I can only answer as an iphone owner and tell you that I find it to be great...I dont carry a ton of music with me, so 8GB is really plenty...and 16 would be flat out overkill for me. If you need more than that, then the answer is pretty straightforward (though rumors say 32GB iphone is on the way at some point).

I love my iphone - I find the sound quality on the 3g to be heads above the older model...love the browsing, and once I jailbroke it, the thing became an absolute BEAST (using it as an aircard is by FAR the coolest thing).

Maintanence on an iphone is a little bit ridiculous. Not to mention battery life and service plan pricing like the others said.
If anything goes wrong on that phone, you can't get it fixed at ATT, you have to go directly to Apple with it. Meaning you're sending it in.
If you want a loaner iphone, you're looking at 29 bucks a day.
The itouch is the iphone without calling ability.
Yeah, it means carrying two devices (and not all the time anyway most likely) but in the long run its less of a pain and cheaper.
