Iphone 3g software problems?

i just got an iphone and when i plugged it in i had 2 download the software, but i accidently closed the download, so when i plug in my iphone now it says, error software is not downloaded, please reinstall itunes. i did that and it still had the same message.....WHAT SHOULD I DO?????:?
if im gonna download the software againn, how do i do it?
