okay so im getting the iphone 3g for my birthday.
in a couple of weeks.
i wanted to know what does it do when someone sends you something.
like you know how the sidekick LX blinks blue,
when you have something new.
well what does the iphone 3g do?

You'll get an alert, and you can choose what sound it makes when you do. Also, there's usually an indicator on whichever icon for that application (email, text, etc...).
If your phone is locked, and you get a text message, you will get a preview of the text message, and who it's from.
