I have a Monmouth University email account that i want to put on my phone how would i do that

that would not work - the iphone only supports "pop" email accounts with gmail, yahoo... (pop means it notifies you when you receive mail). the best way for making it easy to see your email will then be to log on to your email account with the browser, and save the page to your home screen. It wont tell you when you have new mail, but it will be quick to access.
